B. Milam on the front pd. Milam was, among other things, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1941 - 1949. He was interested in Indian history and amassed a large library of books on the subject. The author, John James, was favorably disposed toward Indians, relating his many positive experiences with the Comanches, Choctaws, and other tribes.
